Our Inflow Tracers Have Been Qualified by Equinor

Scale Protection has developed a fleet of water and oil tracers for identification of fluid type inflow from reservoir zones. In 2020, Equinor performed a technology assessment of our tracer solutions and qualififed them to be ready for installation and use in their wells. In parallell, Equinor has successfully completed an HSE verification of Scale Protection.

ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems certification has been a top priority for Scale Protection, and this week we were audited and certified to be in compliance with this important standard.

Webinar: Scale Integrity Management - a Holistic Approach to an Old Problem

Date & Time:

17 March 2021

Eastern Hemisphere:

9:00 AM (Oslo time) / 4:00 PM (Perth time) - Register

Western Hemisphere:

4:00 PM (Oslo time) / 9:00 AM (Houston time) - Register

Description:

In today’s economic environment where the oil majors are pulling out from many regions, and the fields are taken over by smaller and leaner companies, in-house staffing may be at a minimum. Often, the production and reservoir engineers are left alone with managing scale problems.

In this webinar, Scale Protection will discuss how a holistic cradle to grave scale integrity management service can help oil companies reduce scale related cost by improved monitoring, advise on scale management methods and perform independent reviews of both topside and downhole treatments.

2020 Summary

Jul 2020_2.jpg

2020 has been a challenging year for all, and the COVID-19 pandemic has also affected Sale Protection negatively. However, we did also accomplish many things as well, and our team has stayed healthy. With the holidays soon approaching, we take the opportunity to reflect on some of our achievements in 2020:

  • BSA™ is serving an increasing number of customers in the UKCS and NCS

  • Stephen Heath is associated with Scale Protection as our Scale Management Director and responsible for our new Scale Integrity Management service. This service is now being used by one operator on the NCS

  • A new generation SPIN® DHSV scale prevention tool was sold to a customer in the UK. The tool is now available for tubing and wireline retrievable DHSVs and as an integrated in-completion solution

  • John Lennon was hired as Product Applications Director APAC and has already secured trials of BSA™ and Scale Integrity Management with operators in in Australia

  • We were awarded a scale monitoring contract in the Middle East

  • Torger Skillingstad was appointed new Chairman of the Board

We want to thank our customers and partners for the great collaboration and look forward to continue serving you next year!

In the meantime; merry Christmas and a happy new year!

How can the SPIN® Tool Solve Scale Problems Inside your DHSVs?

Speaker:

Date & Time: 7 October at 2:30 PM CET

The SPIN® is a patented concept that prevents inorganic scale from growing in pipes and valves. The principle can be applied in valves and other areas where a clean surface is necessary. The SPIN®s ability to prevent scaling in DHSVs is field proven in a well in Norway, and it has reduced the need for frequent operation of the valve as well as scale cleaning operations.

SPIN® is available for both tubing retrievable and wireline retrievable DHSVs.

This online presentation will give an introduction to the SPIN® DHSV scale prevention tool and discuss experiences.

Scale Protection to Install a New Generation of SPIN® in the UK

DSCF0014.jpg

Scale Protection has developed and shall install a new version of the SPIN® tool for inorganic scale prevention in downhole safety valves (DHSV) for an UK operator this summer.

The new design will be placed below a wireline retrievable DHSV, changing the flow pattern through the valve in order to prevent scale growth in the flowtube area. In this design the SPIN® is an add-on to the DHSV and will not need a separate installation run.

The development is part of an Innovation Contract between Innovation Norway and Scale Protection.

The first generation of the SPIN® was installed inside a tubing retrievable DHSV in a well in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea in April 2018. This installation has reduced the need for remedial cycling of the valve for scale removal by 75%, hence significantly reduced the non-productive time of this well.

“Introducing a new tool to our toolbox together with a strong partner is is a significant milestone for Scale Protection as a provider of scale monitoring and prevention services to the industry”, says Ole Magnar Drønen, CEO and founder of Scale Protection.
